Fomo vs Pump.fun: trading app vs memecoin launchpad

Fomo and Pump.fun compared from their own docs: what each one is, fees in dollars, chains, apps and social features, and when it makes sense to use both.

By FomoTradersUpdated Facts checked against Fomo's help center 17 October 2026

Short answer

Pump.fun is where many Solana memecoins are created: coins launch on its bonding curve and graduate to its PumpSwap exchange. Fomo is a trading app that lets you buy those coins and tokens on six other chains from one balance, with a social feed of what other traders buy. Pump.fun's own fees are 1.25% on the bonding curve, stepping down to 0.30% for the largest PumpSwap coins. Fomo's own fee is 0.50%, or 0.45% with a referral code.

FomoTraders earns a referral reward from Fomo, so weigh this accordingly. Pump.fun facts come from Pump.fun’s own fee and bonding-curve documentation and its launch announcement, checked on 17 October 2026.

They aren’t really the same kind of product

Pump.fun is a launchpad. Anyone can create a coin there for free. New coins trade on a bonding curve, where the price is set by a formula. Once a coin raises enough, it “graduates” to PumpSwap, Pump.fun’s own exchange. Pump.fun also has a website and, since February 2025, mobile apps.

Fomo is a trading app. It doesn’t launch coins. It lets you buy and sell tokens across seven chains from one cash balance, including coins that started on Pump.fun, and shows you a live feed of what other traders buy and why.

So the question is usually not “which one?” but “where do I want to trade the coins Pump.fun creates?”

How the fees compare

Pump.fun’s fees belong to its own bonding curve and pools. They’re split between the coin’s creator and the protocol, and on PumpSwap also liquidity providers. Fomo’s fee is the app’s own charge on each trade.

On an illustrative $1,000 trade:

  • Pump.fun bonding curve: 1.25% is $12.50.
  • A large coin on PumpSwap: at the 0.30% top tier it’s $3.00.
  • Fomo’s standard fee: 0.50% is $5.00, or $4.50 with a referral code.

These layers aren’t always either-or. A coin’s on-chain pool fees are part of what it costs to trade it on that pool, whichever app you use. Fomo’s fee is a separate app fee. On Solana, Fomo also covers network costs and picks the route, so check the full quote Fomo shows before you confirm.

Where Fomo is stronger

  • More than memecoins on one chain. Seven chains from one cash balance, plus 0.05% on major tokens.
  • Easy funding. Card and Apple Pay deposits where available, no seed phrase, and Apple or Google sign-in.
  • Context before you buy. You see who’s buying, how much, and often a written thesis explaining why.
  • Solana gas covered, so you don’t need SOL for network fees.

Where Pump.fun is stronger

  • You can launch a coin. Fomo doesn’t do that.
  • Earliest access. Coins trade on Pump.fun’s curve from the second they launch.
  • Creator tools. Livestreams, comments and creator fees are built around the coin’s community.

Which should you use?

Use Pump.fun if you want to create coins, or trade new launches right where they start.

Use Fomo if you mainly want to buy and sell coins, including Pump.fun ones after you’ve seen them gain traction, in a simpler app with card funding, other chains and a feed that shows you what experienced traders do.

Many traders use both: they discover coins in one place and trade them in another. Whatever you trade, new memecoins are extremely risky, and most go to zero. Our token research guide covers the checks worth doing first.
