Why use Fomo? The real reasons traders pick it, and when not to

Why people trade on Fomo: lower fees, seven chains from one balance, card funding and a social feed of real trades. Plus the honest reasons it might not suit you.

Short answer

People use Fomo because it makes on-chain trading feel like a normal app. You sign in with Apple or Google, fund with a card, Apple Pay or USDC, and trade tokens on seven chains from one balance for a 0.50% standard fee (0.45% with a referral code), with Solana gas covered. Its feed shows what other traders buy and why. It's not for you if you want copy trading, trading bots, or bank withdrawals outside the US.

FomoTraders earns a referral reward from Fomo, so weigh this accordingly. Every fact here comes from Fomo’s own help center or blog, linked at the bottom of the page.

1. It’s cheaper than most alternatives

Fomo’s standard fee is 0.50% per trade, and 0.45% if you signed up with a referral code. Major tokens cost 0.05%. On Solana the fee depends on the route, with a minimum on small trades, and Fomo covers network costs.

For comparison, the alternatives’ own docs list 0.75% to 1% for trading terminals and 0.85% for Phantom swaps. Our alternatives table has the full numbers.

2. Seven chains, one balance

You don’t move funds between wallets or bridges. Fomo trades on Solana, Base, BNB Chain, Monad, Ethereum, Robinhood Chain and Arc, all from one cash balance.

3. You can start like any other app

Sign in with Apple or Google. There’s no seed phrase to write down. Fund with a debit card, Apple Pay, USDC or an exchange, depending on your country.

4. You keep control of your keys

Fomo says it’s non-custodial. Your wallet’s key is split into shares, and you can export your private keys if you ever want to leave. Our safety guide covers what that does and doesn’t protect.

5. You see what real traders do, and why

This is what makes Fomo different. The feed shows trades as people make them. Traders can attach a written thesis explaining a trade. A leaderboard ranks traders by profit, and you can follow people and get notified when they trade. See how to find top traders on Fomo.

6. Phone and desktop

Fomo has native iPhone and Android apps, and since April 2026 a web version at fomo.family that uses the same account.

7. Spot and perps in one app

Since June 2026, Fomo has offered perpetual futures through Hyperliquid, outside the US. Our perps guide explains the leverage limits and risks.

Backed and growing

Fomo is built by FOMO Labs Inc. In June 2026 it announced a $75 million Series B led by Index Ventures, with Union Square Ventures and Benchmark. Benchmark had led its $17 million Series A in November 2025. In the same June post, Fomo said more than 625,000 people had joined and it had passed $4 billion in trading volume. These are Fomo’s own figures.

Funding doesn’t make an app safe or your trades profitable. It does mean Fomo is an established company, not an anonymous project.

Four reasons Fomo might not suit you

  • No copy trading. You see others’ trades, but you place every trade yourself. If you want automation, look at GMGN.
  • No trading bots or spot limit orders. Terminals like Axiom and Photon have more order tools.
  • Bank withdrawals are US-only. Elsewhere you withdraw USDC to a wallet or exchange.
  • Perps aren’t available to US persons.

And whatever app you use, most memecoins lose value, often fast. Only trade money you can afford to lose.
